Abstract

One of the subjects that will be tested in the national exam for senior high school students is English; this made the writer curious about the students learning English habits. This study aims at finding out the learning habits of the tenth graders of a private senior high school in Surabayabased on the result of the questionnaire among the threetypes of learning habits in 5 classes at a senior high school in Surabaya. The participants were the tenth graders of a private senior high school in Surabaya. The writer used questionnaire as a tools in this study. We can conclude that almost all of the participants from all of the classes implemented the first type of the learning habits, Instrumental Conditioning, which says that they are a continuing learner. They need to learn continuously to get the meaning of the lesson they are learning to. Students need to be praised as stated in the first theory that in the law of effect, students need to be praised with a compliments to give them motivation to learn more.
