Abstract
Power within an organization is something which subunits of the same level want to obtain. The sources of a subunil's power include its ability in coping with uncertainty, substitutability, centrality, and value congruence with top management. To acquire and use power, a subunit takes into account the organizational politics concept. A subunit can manipulate information, push other subunits, and make them obey so as to increase its power. The greater power a subunit has, the easier it performs within the confines of organizational politics. Subunit's power can result to functional and dysfunctional systems for achieving organizational goals
