Abstract

English is one of the important courses in the national educational system. Schools in Indonesia give English lessons for the subject in the curriculum. Some schools in Indonesia, especially in Surabaya, offer additional English lessons as an extra-curricular courses. One of the private schools in Surabaya offers English lesson for extra-curricular and the name of the program is English Club. The researcher carried out this study to find out students’ perceptions of the English Club Program. To be specific the research is aimed to find out the students’ perceptions of the extensive reading activity, the grammar activity and vocabulary activity. The total number of participants was 25 students. The data were collected through questionnaires. The findings showed the students’ positive perceptions of the English Club program. Based on the result, the writer found that the English Club Program had a big positive impact for the students who joined this program and this program should be recommended. To improve the English Club Program, the teacher should improve the media learning and language and hold some activities to attract more to students to join the program
