Abstract

This research is conducted with an objective to know the types of errors that students on junior high school grade nine often make. The method used in this study is a case study. The data is presented in descriptive analysis way using Surface Strategy Taxonomy method which triggered by Dulay, Burt and Krashen (1982). The result of this study is students do all types of error, that are error of omission, addition, selection, and misordering although the percentage is different from one and another. Based on the result, the researcher found that the total error of omission is 12 errors or 25.53%. The total error of addition is 3 errors or 6.38%. the total error of selection is 29 errors or 61.70%. The total error of misordering is 3 errors or 6.38%. Based on that data, can be concluded that the most frequent error is error of selecting type of error and the least frequent error is error of addition and misordering type of error.
