Abstract

Competition induced the company tried to increase its product quality, the company also tried to increase its efficiency to survive from the competition. The company implemented the six sigma's method to increase its product quality. The company has implemented the six sigma's method from May 2009. When the product quality has increased and the efficiency has also increased then it will reduce the competitive disadvantage level. The competitive disadvantage situation happened when the company had no superior value. In this condition the company had no ability to compete with competitors. In this situation the company will suffer a financial loss. There are many quality techniques. The company implemented the six sigma's method. Six sigma projects helped to avoid competitive disadvantage, the six sigma's method brings with its capabilities and skills that managements can use to build competencies that cannot so easily be bought on the market or copied by competitors. The six sigma's method refers to five-phases improvement cycle. The phases were define, measure, analyze, improve, and control. The six sigma's method implemented quality tools to collect data and analyze it. The data of this research were primary data. Data were collected through interview. There are several informants from the company that had experience and expertise in the company. The interview result and the theory were implemented by the writer to analyze and made the research's conclusion. The result of this research can answer the six sigma's implementation in the company. The six sigma's implementation will increase quality and efficiency. When the quality and efficiency increase than the company will reduce the competitive disadvantage level so the company still gets a profit and survive from the competition.
