Abstract

Course book is one of the most important medias, especially in teaching learning proccess for both, teachers and students. A course book is needed as a way to learn. A good English course book should contain appropriate materials in order to give knowledge and motivation to learn. Nowadays, many English course books from different publishers have been released. Advanced Learning English 1 Course Book by Herman Benyamin is an English course book chosen by the writer for her study. In this globalization era, learning English is very important to get better life. Since, English is needed in many aspects, especially in the job fields. In learning English, there are four basic skills. They are listening, speaking, reading, and writing. One of those four basic skills, reading can make the students explore and dig the knowledge so that they become active. The students can get the information through the reading texts. Actually, in reading texts there are values that can be taken, especially Pancasila values. Pancasila is as a way of life, and as the fundation of the country, Indonesia. However, in reality many students do not care about the importance of Pancasila values. Whereas, it can make them as a good citizen since, Pancasila values teach the students to become a good individual with good behavior. It can be delivered on the reading texts in the English course book. This thesis is considered a qualitative study in which the analysis is in the form of descriptionn, which the writer herself as the key instrument. In this study, the writer analyzes or identify in order to know the reading texts materials on Advanced Learning English 1 Course Book, have already delivered the Pancasila values or not. The xi writer puts the Pancasila values of the five principles into coloumn and matched with the linguitic units found on the reading texts. The analysis then finds that there are Pancasila values of the five principles in every reading texts. The writer would like to suggest that the teachers or the students should keep on using Advanced Learning English 1 as an English course book. The pancasila values are delivered well in the reading texts materials. It can help the students construct a good personality, especially for the nation. At last, the writer would like to suggest other researchers to go more deeply into the analysis of this course book. Hopefully, this thesis could be useful for further studies.
