Abstract
Language is used by many people in the world to communicate with other. Among languages in the world, English is an important language that should be learned. Recently, the possibility of teaching English to Elementary school students students have been paid much attention. In the 1994 curriculum, English is optionally taught in the Elementary school as a local content. To the Elementary students, learning English is boring. They think that English is very difficult than Indonesian, especially in preposition. Taking those aforementioned reason into consideration. in this thesis, the writer suggests two technique for teaching preposition to the fourth years of Elementary school, those are by using picture or dialogue. Pictures as a means of teaching English to beginners have a great number of advantages. While dialogue is one of the meaningfully contextual language material. It is very useful in helping the learners to go to the communication of ideas from one speaker to another. In conduction the teaching-learning preposition by means of pictures or dialogues in the classroom, the teacher should follow three basic step. Preparation is very important to the teacher before she present the new material. In preparation, the teacher should include the goals of instruction and the material. Presentation is also important because it determines the teacher's success in learning Presentation consist of step in teaching and time allotment. This thesis is the result of a library study which is based on books and theories only, but the writer believes hopes that this can be applied in a real classroom. Therefore, she concerning the topic of this thesis.
