Abstract

Firms globally has changed their structure to adapt and accept the new wave of globalization especially those related to information technology. The advancement in technology also change how a person/department in an organization work. Firm no longer handle the flow of money but also handle the flow of information. The question in today’s age is “how we can integrate and exchange the information easily?”. Internet pushed technology into a new pace which is dynamic, versatile, and rapid. Given the broad category of technology, the main stage in the information age is Information and Communication Technology. Technology can be developed and used in different ways and are practically a limitless opportunity. However, investing in technology is by no mean cheap and in most case cost a fortune. Not to mention, the resources at hand is limited. Therefore, firms need to balance their IT investment. To know where the firms need to invest in, an assessment toward employee performance is used since technology can lead to increase in employee performance. Thus, this study focus on the role of Information and Communication Technology and how it can contribute to employee performance in term of efficiency and effectiveness. This study will look deep further on Information and Communication Technology, namely hardware, software, and internet in contributing to employee performance and which has the most impact as well as the state of the technology being well implemented or not. The study will be based on Company X’s Accounting Department, specifically Fixed Asset Accountants.
