Abstract

The Influence of Aphrodisiac Food Consumption Patterns on Elderly Sexual Functions Background. Life expectancy in Indonesia is increasing so that the number of elderly people is also increasing. One of the factors that influence the happiness of elderly marriage is the harmony of husband and wife relationships. Aphrodisiac food is known to improve sexual function. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of aphrodisiac food consumption patterns on the elderly on sexual function. The research method was a cross sectional study with 35 samples (12 males and 23 females) measured for sexual function by using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) and Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). The pattern of consumption of aphrodisiac foods was measured by the Food Frequency Questionaire (FFQ). The results of the study found that there was no influence of the consumption pattern of aphrodisiac food on male sexual function. In women there was a significant effect (p = 0.001, correlation coefficient 0.624) on durian consumption patterns on female sexual function, but not in other foods. Conclusion. There is an effect of durian consumption patterns on female sexual function and there is no effect of aphrodisiac food consumption patterns on male sexual function.
