Abstract

Digital learning media like PowerPoint help teachers in delivering materials and increasing students’ motivation to understand the materials. Additionally, PowerPoint software program also helps students in presenting their ideas. PowerPoint becomes popular in any sorts of teaching-learning activities because it may minimize the amount of money spent to print out teaching materials. Moreover, the researcher carried out this study to explore students’ perception of the role of PowerPoint in the preparation stage and performance stage. The total number of the research participants were 28 students of an English Department. The data were collected using Google Form questionnaires and continued with interviews using WhatsApp video calls. The findings showed positive perception for the role of PowerPoint, both in the preparation stage and performance stage. Additionally, challenges regarding the students’ perception were also identified, such as the difficulty to shorten the sentences into point and the lack of time to prepare.
