Abstract

The study under report was conducted to know the English Department students attitude toward the existence of SAC at English Study Program. In conducting this study, the writer used two instruments, i.e., questionnaire and interview. This study reveals that the students’ attitude toward the existence of SAC is positive. More specifically, it can be reported that: 1. Most of the subjects (57%) went to SAC for 1-2 in a week. 2. The main purpose of the students who went to SAC is to spend their leisure time. There are 90 students who said that they go to SAC to spend their time. 3. Based on the findings, there are 151 students who said that the activity which they usually do in SAC is watching video. 4. The SAC has already provided good materials. It can be said so because the percentage of the positive answers given by the students is bigger than that of the negative one in all the materials. 5. The SAC has already provided good activities. Most of the students gave positive answers concerning the activities. From the findings, it can be seen that the percentage of positive answers is bigger than negative answers in all the activities. 6. The SAC has already provided good facilities. It can be said so because the percentage of positive answers is bigger than negative answers in all facilities. Based on the findings, some suggestions are given to improve the SAC at the English Department, i.e.,: SAC should be opened longer, the rule about photo copying the materials should be changed, interesting materials and many others should be added. For English Department, the lecturers from English Department should visit SAC more often so that they know the materials, activities and facilities provided in SAC and therefore they can encourage students to go to SAC.
