Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the students’ opinion towards the obstacles of online learning. This study is a descriptive study with qualitative approach use questionnaire and interview. The total number of the participants who did the questionnaire were 30 (thirty) students of SMPN 1 Wonosari. Then, the researcher chooses 5 participants out of 30 to be interviewed. The researcher categorizes the obstacles into 5 categories; they are the teaching and learning process, learning media, technical problems, social interaction, and student academic performance. The result of the study shows that almost half of the total participants experienced online learning obstacles. Some of the major obstacles were influenced by their personality and their own preference to learn. The successful learning can be seen from the student academic performance. This studies implies that online learning gives challenges for the students, how they adapt with this situation, and they will also feel the benefit of learning.
