Abstract
Among the four sells in English:reading, speaking, listening and writing, many student sconsider writing as anuninteresting subject because some exercises found in Senior High School students' reference book' are not interesting and do not trigger the students' creativity to make a composition. Attempting to overcome those problems, the writer tries to conduct a "new"technique. The writer is interested in a technique conveyed by Alexander which is presented in his book entitled " Practice and Progress". Here, he uses aset of questions dealing with a short paragraph . Those questions are planned properly so that it helps the students make a short paragraph that may have the same ide a with the pass age they have read. The questions that will be presented here area set of well- planned questions dealing with various kinds of materials, such as : a reading passage, a dialogue, a series of pictures and an advertisement. The writer uses a library research in doing her study. She gets most of the information from books, papers and article sat the school library to support her study. The aim of this study is to explore the possibility of helping the teacher to teach writing through aset of well- planned questions. Finally, the writer realizes that this thesis is far from being perfect . She hopes that there will be other researchers continuing this research by experimenting to see whether this technique can be used in Senior High School or not.
