Abstract

Uncontrolled Keywords: Temulawak rhizome, kemukus fruit, meniran herbs and beluntas leaves are a plants that have been used by the people for medical treatment. The aim of the research was to prove the antibacterial potential of the combination of temulawak rhizome, kemukus fruit, meniran herbs and beluntas leaves againts Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi. All simplicia were standardited before used. Extract prepared by maceration. The concentration of the combination of plants used for the test that was 1 g/10ml with a ratio of each plant 1: 1: 1: 1. Diffusion method and dilution liquid method were used for antibacterial test with Tetracycline HCl was used for a comparison. A combination of ethanol extract of Temulawak rhizome, kemukus fruit, meniran herbs and beluntas leaves have antibacterial activity with a concentration of 10000 ppm respectively on Staphylococcus aureus (9.65 mm) and Salmonella thypi (9.00 mm), by wells diffusion method. In microplate dilution method, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella thypi at a concentration of 10000 ppm but for Escherichia coli is more than 10000 ppm. In the determination of MBC, the combination of extracts plant can not kill Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi. In the determination of MBC, the minimum bactericidal concentration combination of extracts plant more than 10000 ppm.
